What Christian Counseling is and is not
Many people are confused by the term “Christian counseling.” Some may think it’s just about telling people what the bible says to do in their situation. However, Christian counseling is not a special type of counseling or a separate therapy. It’s not only for those who want religious advice, and it doesn’t follow a strict method that’s the same for everyone. It uses real therapy techniques and tools to help people heal, just like any other form of counseling, but from a Christian perspective.
What Christian Counseling Does Mean
In simple terms, the “Christian” in Christian counseling means that the counseling is done from a Christian worldview. This allows a licensed Christian therapist to use many different kinds of therapy, like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Various forms of trauma treatment or Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), while keeping faith in mind.
A Christian counselor can help you work through life’s challenges while understanding your faith and values. The Christian worldview helps guide how we view personal growth, relationships, and healing.
What Christian Counseling Means in My Practice
In my practice as a licensed Christian therapist in Charlotte, I bring both my faith and professional training together to help people. I hold degrees from Christian schools like Biola University and Pepperdine University, where I learned to blend psychology with Christian beliefs. I hold a Bachelors and a Masters in clinical psychology and minored in Biblical Studies. As a Christian Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I work to apply modern therapy techniques while staying faithful to Christian values.
I believe psychology is a tool given to us by God to understand our minds, emotions, and relationships better. In my practice, I use the latest therapy techniques, but I always view them through the lens of Scripture. This means I help people work through their problems while staying true to the truths found in the Bible.
If you are looking for Christian counseling in Charlotte that respects your faith and uses proven therapy techniques, I can help. My goal is to support your emotional, mental, and spiritual health.
